NRSE 6210 - Advanced Pathophysiology in Nursing Practice


Focuses on analysis of concepts of physiology and pathophysiology and relationship to nursing interventions across lifespan of humans at the advanced practice level.

Requisites: (NRSE 6010 or 6411 or 7802) or concurrent
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 6.0 hours.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to analyze normal physiological parameters of bodily systems across the lifespan.
  • Students will be able to apply diagnostic reasoning in assessing and evaluating clients with specific pathophysiological alterations leading to differential diagnoses.
  • Students will be able to compare and contrast measurement strategies used by advanced practice nurses to assess and/or monitor human physiological systems.
  • Students will be able to describe the epidemiology, etiology, pathophysiology, and clinical and laboratory manifestations of specific disease processes.
  • Students will be able to identify the internal and external factors that affect specific physiological states along the health to illness continuum.
