Opportunities Upon Graduation

Career opportunities in industrial hygiene, and the inseparable field of safety are diverse and many. Graduates of the industrial hygiene program work in industry, research laboratories, corporations, insurance companies, and governmental agencies. Some find employment in health care settings, including hospitals, laboratories, or universities. Still more options exist for you in the field of education or with public utilities, natural resource departments, consulting firms, and hazardous waste companies. OU graduates typically begin their IH careers as technical specialists at one of a diverse group of employers. These may include a manufacturing or industrial company, governmental agency, consulting firm, or health care or educational institution. Historically, the job market has allowed many Ohio University graduates to advance to managerial positions, and ultimately on to senior administrative duties (subject to individual graduate skills and capabilities).
