Master of Education
Emphasis: Mathematics Education

This program is designed for teachers of mathematics who wish to pursue a substantial amount of course
work in mathematics beyond their undergraduate training and who wish to increase their competency in the area of
professional education.

Those wishing to pursue their initial teaching license must follow the requirements as outlined in the
Master of Education and Graduate Licensure Program in Adolescent to Young Adult (AYA-secondary) Education.
Graduate students must work closely with their major advisors in planning the Master of Education
program. A program of study must be developed early in the program and filed, with the approval of the advisor, by
the completion of 20 quarter hours of graduate work.

The program of a M.Ed. with emphasis in mathematics teaching in the secondary school consists of at least
54 quarter hours of graduate study. It is the policy of the Department of Teacher Education to allow a maximum of
8 hours of workshop credit to be applied to a Master of Education program.
