Program Overview: Programs in the field of Higher Education and Student Affairs focus on administration and teaching at the collegiate level. In administration, the higher education program focuses on preparing individuals for leadership positions in various functional areas within higher education and student affairs. Required coursework examines the background of higher education and student affairs, the study of internal organizational standards, policy perspectives, and the principles of finance and governance. In college teaching, the program assists students in examining pedagogy and curriculum development on the collegiate level. Coursework provides an opportunity to examine the theory and practice of college teaching, the professoriate, academic management, professional development, and the nature of students and the collegiate environment. The Higher Education and Student Affairs doctoral programs are offered both as a weekend, Executive PhD program for working professionals, as well as traditional on-campus program.
