Media Studies Major (B.S.C.)

The Media Studies Sequence offers students several options of study.

The Individualized Program offers students the opportunity to design an individualized program that meets their unique needs and interests for the study of media. A student can design an individualized program of study in consultation with the Media Studies Sequence Director and a faculty advisor. The student will submit for approval a proposal for coursework including justification and corollary area(s). Alternately, students can select one of three areas of study:

  • International Communication
  • Media and Society
  • Politics and Media

Students must complete the TCOM Foundation, 28 hours of coursework in the Media Studies Sequence, 8 hours in either Audio, Video, and/or Digital Media, and 8 hours in Media Management.

  • Special Topics Seminar (International Issues) Credit Hours:  4

Politics and Media

  • Special Topics Seminar (Political Issues) Credit Hours:  4

Nonmajor Sequences (minimum of 16 credits)


  • Complete 8 credits in either audio, video, and/or digital media.
  • Complete 8 credits in media management.
