Program Overview

The program is designed for individuals who are registered nurses (RN) seeking the baccalaureate degree. They must be employed by one of Ohio University’s academic partnership facilities. The program provides the classroom experiences necessary for the RN role at the baccalaureate level. Classes are held online.
 

Admissions Information

Freshman/First-Year Admission

Freshman are not admitted to this program.

Change of Program Policy

Must be a graduate of an approved program (or its equivalent) that prepares individuals to sit for the registered nurse licensing exam (NCLEX-RN) and must be licensed as a registered nurse (RN) within the United States.

External Transfer Admission

The majority of students in this program are considered transfer students in that they completed the basic RN preparation at another institution. All work completed previously at an institution other than Ohio University will be evaluated and follow OU transfer credit policy.
 

Opportunities Upon Graduation

Following graduation, registered nurses with baccalaureate degree are able to pursue nursing leadership positions within health care agencies and are prepared to enter master’s or doctoral programs in nursing that would lead to a nurse practitioner, nurse midwife, nurse anesthetist, clinical nurse specialist, and/or nurse educator roles.
