Program Overview
The Chinese Studies certificate is an interdisciplinary program open to all undergraduate students. It fosters an understanding and appreciation of Chinese language, culture, history and society, preparing students with a global perspective for their careers. With its long and rich history, diverse culture and people, and growing economic power, China is an increasingly influential global force and a key center of politics, economics, science, and technology. Mandarin Chinese has more native speakers than any other language in the world, and Chinese philosophy and medicine are increasingly studied and adopted across cultures.
The Chinese Studies Certificate requires a minimum of 15 credits, with courses from the following departments and schools: History, Linguistics, Political Science, and Fine Arts. Studying abroad is not required but highly encouraged.
