AT 5140 - Medical Conditions in Athletic Training Introduces common medical conditions that are seen in the physically active population with an emphasis on referral flags and disqualifying conditions. Laboratory sessions focus on developing skills used during a general medical examination, including physiological measurements and examination instruments.
Requisites: Admission to MSAT Program Credit Hours: 1.0 lecture, 2.0 laboratory Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 1.0 lecture, 2.0 laboratory Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - The student will be able to compile a medical history including history of present illness, past medical history, and family history.
- The student will be able to perform an accurate physical examination.
- The student will be able to develop an accurate differential diagnosis.
- The student will be able to identify accurately the typical presentation associated with common illnesses affecting the various body systems.
- The student will be able to implement the appropriate plan of care and referral for common illnesses affecting the various body systems.
