THAR 2871 - Voice and Movement for Musical Theater II


This is the second of two courses focusing on strengthening the actor’s body and voice with more rigorous practices. The student actor continues to cultivate accessing the imagination through the body, and developing short compositions inspired by elements of space and time. We introduce gateways into character via voice and body.

Credit Hours: 2
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 4.0 studio

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to demonstrate increased stamina, physical freedom, power, and inventiveness.
  • Students will be able to have a refined attention and response to elements of space and time.
  • Students will be able to create and embody a diverse range of characters.
  • Students will be able to identify specific speech actions and how to phonetically transcribe these actions.
