MUS 1040 - Dictation and Sight Singing II

Acquisition of skills in the aural perception and reading of melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic musical structure. Should be taken concurrently with MUS 1020.

Requisites: C or better in (MUS 1010 and 1030)
Credit Hours: 1
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 1.0 lecture
Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will sight sing examples using more complex diatonic patterns.
  • Students will take down dictation of more complex examples of diatonic melodic and harmonic structures.
