EDEC 3801 - Play and Creativity in Early Childhood Education


Examines theories of play and creative expression in early childhood education. Candidates have the opportunity to develop an awareness of and an appreciation for their own creative abilities, creative teaching, and play and creative expression in children’s learning and curriculum experiences. Candidates plan, implement, and evaluate learning experiences for play and the creative arts, for children age 3 to grade 3, with emphasis on integrating play, art, construction, music, movement, dance, and drama with content standards throughout the curriculum.

Requisites: (EDEC 170 or 1001 or HCCF 170) or concurrent and C or better in EDEC 1600
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture
