EDEC 3110 - Methods of Teaching Reading Grades 1-3 Provides preparation for teaching developmental reading in grades 1-3. A stage model of literacy is emphasized, along with research-based instructional strategies appropriate to the development of literacy in young children. All forms of literacy (reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing) and the way they contribute to the development of proficient reading studied. A literature approach emphasized; however, all literacy methodologies studied.
