GEOG 3040 - Practicum in Meteorology and Forecasting Students learn to apply theoretical weather analysis principles through practical lab based activities. Students collect current weather information from atmospheric measurements and weather models for preparing and disseminating tailored meteorological forecasts for Athens, Ohio and surrounding communities.
Requisites: GEOG 3031 Credit Hours: 1 OHIO BRICKS: Bridge: Learning and Doing Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 5.0 hours.

Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to apply meteorology theory to develop and communicate weather forecasts.
- Students will be able to integrate information from meteorology, climatology, geography and communication science to design weather forecast reports.
- Students will be able to transform theoretical and practical meteorological knowledge into easily understood weather forecast reports for non-specialists.
- Students will be able to create specialized weather forecast logs and reports using customized natural language and multimedia content appropriate for both experts and non-experts.
- Students will be able to analyze and improve their forecasting skills based on feedback on past cumulative forecast logs throughout the semester.
