MUS 2030 - Dictation and Sight Singing III


Skills in dictation and sight singing leading to aural perception commensurate with professional level musicianship. Should be taken concurrently with MUS 2010.

Requisites: C or better in (MUS 1020 and 1040)
Credit Hours: 1
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Dictation of harmonic examples involving some use of secondary function and modulation.
  • Dictation of rhythmic examples involving syncopation in simple and compound meters.
  • Dictation of tonal melodies of one or two phrases involving some chromaticism.
  • Sight singing of examples involving the above melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic features.
