EDEC 3929 - Practicum in Early Childhood Education


Lab experience in assisting the planning, guiding, supervising, and evaluating preschool children’s growth and behavior in all phases of early childhood education programs. Required for students in the associate’s degree program. Minimum of 300 contact hours in an infant, toddler, or PK setting.

Requisites: ECEE 2301 and ECEE 3610
Credit Hours: 6

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to demonstrate appropriate teaching behavior with young children.
  • Student will be able to connect knowledge of various disciplines with knowledge about children’s learning to plan age-appropriate learning experiences for young children.
  • Students will be able to connect knowledge about how young children learn to classroom experiences through planning and reflection.
  • Students will be able to adapt and apply skills for working with young children, theories of learning, and teaching methods across diverse students and classroom situations.
  • Students will be able to complete lesson plans and written reflections in clear and logical way an assignment using a format, language, or visual representation in ways that clearly communicate ideas.
  • Students will be able to co-reflect with supervisor and peers to demonstrate a developing sense of self as a teacher of young children who work across multiple care settings.
