Program Overview: The MSN Program provides students with the opportunity to complete the educator and family nurse practitioner options. MS1219 is the code used by those who wish to complete both the nurse educator and the family nurse practitioner options. Students would complete the core set of courses (23 credits), the educator option (13 credits), and the family nurse practitioner option (16 credits).

Admissions Policy: No freshman are admitted to this option. Prospective students for the MSN Program need the following items for admission consideration:

  2. licensed as RN in the state of Ohio,
  3. hold a baccalaureate degree,

  7. evidence of completion of courses in management, statistics, research, and accounting prior to beginning of MSN work,
  8. three letters of recommendation, and
  9. completion of the Graduate Record Exam or the Miller’s Analogy exam if the undergraduate grade point average is lower than 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.

Change Policy: No selective or limited admission requirements.

Transfer Policy: Transfer students must meet the same requirements as those admitted without previous graduate coursework. Coursework can be transferred to the MSN only if:

  • were graduate level courses acceptable for degree credit at the previous institution and completed with a grade of  B or better,
  • totals no more than eight (8) semester credits hours or 25% of the total required semester credit hours, whichever is greater, and

The individual is prepared to sit for the national certification exam and when successfully completed to satisfy the requirements for advanced nursing practice in the state of Ohio. The graduate would be prepared to enter a doctoral program in either area.
