This program, which is built around 56 hours of mathematics coursework, is intended to ensure adequate preparation for graduate work in mathematics. In addition, some computer science experience and coursework from the physical sciences is often useful. Consult an advisor in the Department of Mathematics for assistance in planning your program. In some exceptional cases, one or more of MATH 263A, B, C, D, MATH 306, and MATH 360 can be waived provided the student substitutes enough courses from the list of suggested additional coursework to obtain a total of at least 56 hours of coursework in mathematics.
