Environmental and occupational health and safety professionals are trained to evaluate and control environmental factors that might cause or contribute to health problems. Two distinct majors are available: Environmental Health Science and Industrial Hygiene.

The industrial hygiene option prepares you for a career as an industrial hygienist. An industrial hygienist is concerned with evaluating and controlling workplace environmental exposures that affect workers’ and the public’s health and safety. Industrial hygiene is one of the leading occupational safety professions. After graduation you will be competitive in an expanding job market with major corporations, consulting firms, and government agencies. In addition, the program will prepare you for admission to graduate school in industrial hygiene, environmental science, and public health. When you have completed the prescribed course of study and have applied officially for degree conferral, you will be awarded the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Hygiene.

Internship, Practica, Field Experience, Senior Internship Registration Requirements

The College’s policy on internships, practica, field experiences, and senior internship requires that you be registered for the experience in the quarter(s) that you are actually fulfilling the requirements for the course. The only exception to this requirement is an experience that takes place over winter break, in which case you may register for the course during either fall or winter quarter.
