CS 5150 - Data Science: Algorithms, Processes and Applications

Computational techniques and processes for data science are applied to solve world problems. Students gain an understanding of data science models and methods, how to perform analyses to answer domain research questions, and effectively communicate insights from their analyses.

Requisites:
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture
Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I
Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to clean, preprocess, and explore real world data sets.
  • Students will be able to build computational models (perform computational modeling) for graph analytics and for clustering.
  • Students will be able to characterize the statistical significance of their computational models.
  • Students will be able to visualize and interpret the significance of the computational models in authentic domains.
  • Students will be able to lead team-based learning activities,
