ENG 6330 - Topics in American Literature 1865-1918

Topics in American literature from 1865 to 1918; introduction of major figures, genres, and issues in the period; introduction to current critical conversations in American literary studies.

Requisites:
Credit Hours: 4
Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 8.0 hours.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 4.0 seminar
Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,CR,PR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I
Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to write clearly, persuasively, and in accordance with conventions of formal writing in English Studies.
  • Students will be able to produce research projects that incorporate close reading, graduate-level argumentation, and original ideas.
  • Students will be able to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate scholarly materials.
  • Students will be able to develop original research questions, theses, and bibliographies in American literature from 1865 to 1918.
  • Students will be able to locate and use appropriate research resources of University Libraries.
