AT 5921 - Athletic Training Practicum 1 Students will learn how to evaluate and manage patients with acute conditions. Students will apply knowledge and skills obtained in the classroom to patient care under the direct supervision of a clinical preceptor. Focus will be on triaging medical conditions that are emergent and environmental conditions that are life threatening.
Requisites: Admission to MSAT Program Credit Hours: 2 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 4.0 practicum Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes:
- The student will be able to demonstrate proficiency in administrative tasks including basic administration and documentation.
- The student will be able to practice in a manner that is congruent with legal and ethical practice standards of the profession.
- The student will be able to practice health care in a manner that is compliant with Board of Certification (BOC) standards of professional practice, laws, and regulations.
- The student will be able to evaluate and manage patients with acute conditions.
- The student will be able to triage conditions that are life threatening or otherwise emergent.
- The student will be able to educate, monitor, and make recommendations to prevent environmental illness or injury.
- The student will be able to select, fit, and remove protective equipment to minimize the risk of injury or re-injury.
