Traditional governments in southeast Asia, Western colonialism, rise of nationalism, achievement of independence.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Compare and contrast the experience of different countries in Southeast Asia.
  • Describe and explain the basic histories and current challenges faced by states in Southeast Asia.
  • Identify the causes and consequences of key moments of social, economic, and political change that have taken place in Southeast Asia.
  • Use theories of comparative politics and international relations to analyze and explain political outcomes in Southeast Asia.
