ENG 5950 - Introduction to English Studies This course introduces students to graduate-level writing and research in the field of English Studies, including researching critical issues, using library resources, synthesizing scholarship, documenting sources, and developing research questions, theses, and bibliographies.
Requisites: Credit Hours: 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 4.0 seminar Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to write clearly, persuasively, and in accordance with conventions of formal writing in English Studies.
- Students will be able to produce substantial reseach projects that incorporate close reading, graduate-level argumentation, and original ideas.
- Students will be able to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate scholarly materials.
- Students will be able to develop original research questions, theses, and bibliographies.
- Students will be able to locate and use appropriate research resources of University Libraries.
