PSY 6112 - Introduction of Linear Regression Analysis

This course is an introduction to linear regression models, including the principles and procedures involved in the estimation and testing of parameters, the use of diagnostic procedures, the representation of categorical predictors, and the exploration of higher-order effects, including interactions.

Requisites: PSY 6111 or 621
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture
Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,PR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I
Learning Outcomes:
  • Conduct, interpret, and report linear regression analyses carried out with statistical software.
  • Explain how methodological decisions affect the power of a regression analysis.
  • Explain how regression and correlational analyses are related, and how diagnostic procedures are used to assess a regression model.
  • Explain the key elements of any regression analysis, including how parameters are estimated, how parameters and models are tested, how association between predictors and criterion is measured.
  • Understand and evaluate linear regression analyses reported in the scientific literature.
