PSY 7520 - Social Cognition Examine major theoretical and research trends in social cognition, the dominant perspective in social psychology. Readings will focus on attribution theory, person perception, stereotyping and prejudice, attitudes, automaticity and control, and the relationship between affect and cognition.

- Describe the research paradigms that are typically employed within the social cognition approach and compare and contrast these paradigms so as to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses.
- Develop academic writing skills and gain facility with the logic of the research process.
- Explain the major theoretical and research trends within social cognition; evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the social cognition approach.
- Provide cogent critiques of the research literature.
