• Students will be able to evaluate long-term investment decisions and financing options for current and future impact and fit with organizational goals.
• Students will be able to analyze the financial strength of a health care organization, evaluate financial effectiveness of operations, and forecast revenue and expense (ratio analysis, cost-benefit analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis, etc.).
• Students will be able to assess financial risk and risk management techniques.
• Students will be able to communicate health care organizational issues in financial terms to various stakeholders.
• Students will be able to demonstrate various methods to analyze income statement items and balance sheet accounts.
• Students will be able to describe elements of financial leadership in both day-to-day operations and long-range planning.
• Students will be able to identify the impact of health care regulations, government mandates, and health insurance features on reimbursement in various health care organizations.
• Students will be able to to identify the important current and future issues in health care finance.
• Students will be able to to identify the key elements of a complete and successful revenue cycle, including admission and registration, procedural and diagnosis coding, charge master maintenance, and billing and collection processes and strategies.
• Students will be able to prepare and manage budgets, including annual operating budgets, project budgets, and capital budgets.
