HLTH 6100 - Evaluation and Quality Improvement in Health Care


Evaluation strategies to assess and improve health care efficiency, effectiveness, and quality, including use of quality standards and protocols.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Communicate evaluation and assessment goals and results to relevant stakeholders.
  • Critique current and suggest new quality standards and benchmarks.
  • Design evaluation protocols that are consistent with evaluation purposes, include appropriate data collection and analysis (financial, statistical, evidence-based).
  • Develop and plan implementation of quality assurance (root cause analysis, benchmarking, process analysis, etc.).
  • Explain and justify models for incorporation of evaluation into organizational planning.
  • Translate external assessment requirements to internal evaluation methods.
  • Understand the necessary components to implement and or manage an effective and compliant utilization review/management structure within a health care organization.
