REC 4630 - Fundraising and Sponsorship Development for Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Services


This course offers students a comprehensive overview of fundraising and sponsorship development for non-profit and public sector organizations within parks, recreation, and leisure. The course provides an in-depth examination of funding sources that include, but are not limited to, grants, major gifts, annual giving plans, corporate giving, sponsorships, and donors.

Requisites: Jr or Sr
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to identify a variety of funding resources available to parks, recreation, and leisure service organizations.
  • Students will be able to develop a plan to gain support for funding for a parks, recreation, and leisure service organization.
  • Students will be able to identify strategies to obtain funding for parks, recreation, and leisure service organizations.
  • Students will be able to design a sponsorship package for a non-profit or community organization within parks, recreation, or leisure.
  • Students will be able to design a revenue plan for a parks, recreation, and leisure non-profit or community organization.
