RFM 1010 - Introduction to Retailing


This course combines theoretical concepts with practical applications from a strategic managerial perspective. Lecture and discussion provide the primary basis for developing materials in class. Lectures supplement and expand upon concepts presented in the text. Current events are explored to provide students with the opportunity to integrate course material with actual business operations within the retail industry.

Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to examine the important retailing concepts, industry terms, and knowledge of all retail industry channel members, theories and concepts in research and the study of clothing and textiles.
  • Students will be able to identify various retail mix components, fundamental retail operations, as well as career opportunities available within the retail field.
