MUS 1240 - History of Rock Music I Examines birth, growth, and development of rock music through its acceptance as art form with significant influence on youth culture and resulting social implications.

Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be familiar with the cultural context of each major style of rock music.
- Students will be familiar with the origins of rock music in blues, rhythm’ n blues, and other African-American vernacular styles.
- Students will know and be able to identify representative examples of songs, styles, and artists of rock from the 1950’s onward.
