EDTE 7370 - Piaget’s Theory of Constructivism and Its Application in Education


This course will examine Piaget’s Constructivism by examining his own writings. In this course we will read together from books written by Piaget’s and discuss how it relates to educational practice and pedagogy.

Requisites:
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 4.0 seminar, 4.0 discussion

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to comprehend the importance of having a strong understanding of primary sources from any developmental theorist.
  • Students will be able to discuss how Piaget’s developmental theory can be applied to curriculum and reform in our educational system.
  • Students will develop a better understanding of Piaget’s constructivism and its implications for the cognitive development of children.
