HLTH 6020 - Information Systems for Health Services Overview and analysis of the technology, planning, and leadership issues associated with health care information systems, including the challenges of implementing information systems for health care organizations and delivery systems.
Requisites: Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Anticipate information technology issues relating to users, regulation, ethics, privacy, and new technology.
- Conceptualize and appropriately communicate an organization’s health management information system architecture and infrastructure to relevant stakeholders.
- Describe various information systems and their roles and relevance (e.g., clinical documentation, clinical and managerial decision making; patient records, billing, monitoring; human resources, diagnostic; reimbursement; inter and intranet).
- Design and perform needs assessments and develop selection criteria for hard and software.
- Identify planning and leadership issues in assessment, design, function, change, and implementation of health and management information systems.
- Link information technology plan to strategic organizational plans.
