Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will articulate an understanding of the historical context and philosophical foundations of American higher education.
  • Students will demonstrate an understanding of contemporary and potential issues that face American higher education.
  • Students will demonstrate knowledge of student, faculty, and administrative characteristics and the challenges facing each of these groups.
  • Students will differentiate and explain purposes, structures, and functions among and within types of institutions.
  • Students will identify and describe societal influences on the governance and operations of colleges and universities.
