EDCT 7021 - Online Course Development


Utilizes a combination of lectures, hands-on experiences, guest speakers, discussions, and projects to help participants understand the strengths and limits of current technologies for distance education. Participants create and evaluate an online course as well as apply theory and practice for the administration of distance learning (DL) environments.

Credit Hours: 4
Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Participants will be able analyze the extent to which the program is based on the ideas and principles of DL.
  • Participants will describe current theory and practice in distance education in K-12, higher education, business, and military settings.
  • Participants will examine the issues of time and distance in learning online.
  • Participants will identify course development issues and the evaluation of course design and implementation.
  • Participants will identify methods for obtaining social presence in online environments.
