EDCT 6011 - Instructional Design


Introduces designing instruction in mediated environments. Teaches how to analyze, implement and evaluate instructional experiences, particularly those delivered through or mediated through digital communication and interaction technology. Reviews how to conduct a needs analysis, task analysis and learner analysis. Will utilize these analysis skills to design instruction. Strategies for instructing declarative, conceptual, procedural, algorithmic knowledge covered. Utilizes strategies to create presentations, practice and feedback systems.These systems require assessment and evaluation to create congruent learning experiences. Skills applicable to any learning situation, however, particular attention paid to mediated environments (computer tutorials, simulations, games, etc.). Each week a component of instructional design is done leading to a final project demonstrating their abilities. Traditional midterm and final examinations are required. Lays foundation for the rest of the masters program.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of project planning and management.
  • Implement an instructional design project.
