EDCE 6924 - Advanced Practicum: Rehabilitation


Students conduct supervised counseling sessions. Preparing case notes, consulting with other professionals, critiquing audio and videotapes of their counseling sessions, participating in practica seminars, etc.; are part of the experience. Students must submit an application for admission to the practicum the quarter before expected enrollment.

Requisites:
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 practicum
Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,CR,PR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I
Learning Outcomes:
  • Develop basic skills in counseling, consultation, and the behavior change process.
  • Gain further understanding of the growth and behavior of clientele and the forces that facilitate and enhance their development, change, and problem solving.
  • Provide opportunity for students to begin integrating the theory, practice, and ethical standards of counseling and to develop their own personal style.
  • Provide opportunity for the Practicum counselor’s growth by evaluating his or her own behavior and the effect upon others in the helping relationship.
  • Provide opportunity for working as a member of the treatment team by providing counseling and case management services.
