COMS 6250 - Seminar in Instructional Communication This course provides graduate students with an overview of the impact of communication in the classroom. Specifically, this course focuses on the dynamics of communication and how this influences student outcomes (e.g., learning, motivation) as well as instructor outcomes (e.g., efficacy, job satisfaction).
Requisites: Credit Hours: 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 seminar Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,PR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Analyze theories connecting communication and learning.
- Evaluate common methods for assessing cognitive, affective, and behavioral learning.
- Explore empirical research on classroom communication including but not limited to: teacher immediacy, compliance gaining, emotion, notetaking, clarity, communication apprehension, information processing.
- Plan and execute a study exploring classroom communication.
