CE 6620 - Transportation Design I


Fundamentals of route design (sight distance, horizontal and vertical alignment, superelevation), design of interchanges and intersections, access management issues, roadway elements (pavement markings and signage), and economic considerations.

Requisites:
Credit Hours: 3

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to design interchanges and intersections.
  • Students will learn about roadway elements such as pavement markings, signage, utilities, and e.t.c.
  • Students will learn how to locate elements such as roadside barriers, bridge railings, crash cushions.
  • Students will review fundamentals of route design (sight distance, horizontal & vertical alignment, superelevation).
  • Students will understand access management issues.
