ECEE 2400 - Infant/Toddler Mental Health and Development This course introduces students to infant mental health and development, including brain, social-emotional, language, cognitive, and motor development.
Credit Hours: 3 General Education Code: 2AS Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to describe theoretical foundations of infant and toddler mental health and development.
- Students will be able to describe and evaluate typical/atypical prenatal-infant-toddler development
- Students will be able to articulate infant brain development and its central role in social-emotional-motor-language-cognitive development
- Students will be able to explain the interconnected nature of all domains of development
- Students will be able to identify risk factors that impact prenatal, infant, and toddler health and development
- Students will be able to explain the prevention of challenges to infant mental health and development
- Students will be able to explain strategies and approaches for promoting healthy infant/toddler development
