RFM 1100 - Fashion and Culture This course considers the factors that influence consumer adoption of fashion. Emphasis is placed on understanding how culture influences fashion adoption and evolution as well as the influences of fashion products on evolution of cultures.

- Students will be able to describe the use of non-verbal communication through clothing and dress as well as the importance of symbolic interaction within/between cultures using concepts & theories in retail merchandising and Fashion Product Development.
- Students will be able to describe fashion evolution through technological innovations and geographic access.
- Students will be able to identify fashion development related to historic perspectives pertaining to Western culture.
- Students will be able to articulate advertising and marketing influences on various cultures regarding fashion adoption.
- Students will be able to describe influences on fashion innovation and diffusion pertaining to Western cultures.
