IHS 6212 - Culture and Health This course focuses on the influence of culture on health and wellness to provide students, in the healthcare and social service professions, with the tools needed to work with culturally diverse populations.
Requisites: Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to identify cultural practices and beliefs related to health.
- Students will be able to examine linguistic and cultural barriers to communication.
- Students will be able to compare and contrast diverse cultures and their health behaviors and beliefs, using specific cultures as examples.
- Students will be able to demonstrate cultural awareness when they are assessing their patients.
