ETM 5320 - Lean Enterprise Methods


In today’s world, organizations compete in a global market place. In order to compete successfully, organizations must eliminate all forms of waste from their process, through continuous improvement processes. Lean enterprise principles provide methods to achieve these goals. Lean operational approaches provide an organization with a set of methods and tools to assist in the identification and then continuous eliminations of waste and enterprise improvements.

Requisites:
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 lecture, 2.0 laboratory
Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I
Learning Outcomes:
  • Be able to apply lean tools to solve enterprise problems and assist in the process of waste elimination.
  • Be able to apply the principles of Lean Manufacturing in a job setting.
  • Continuously improve your skills and abilities through finding a real client and working with that client in a Lean project.
  • Demonstrate positive professional attitudes and behavior when working with a client and team members.
  • Practice effective team work skills in lab teams and project teams.
  • Understand the principles of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Understanding the structure and operations of an enterprise through practicing value stream mapping, 5s and other lean principles though project based learning.
