HLTH 6300 - Epidemiology in Health Administration Rational basis for setting priorities and allocating scarce health care resources, including use of methodologically sound health statistics; understanding of natural history, classification, and prevention levels of disease; measurement of morbidity and mortality; causal inference; appropriate sources of health care data; and epidemiological principles.

- Apply epidemiological methods to improve and assure quality of care and to propose organizational solutions.
- Communicate epidemiological information and research results to various stakeholders with attention to ethical, political, scientific, economic, and organizational issues.
- Demonstrate understanding of the application of research process and of epidemiological concepts/principles to population health management.
- Describe leadership function with multidisciplinary and diverse groups in problem solving to meet social and organizational goals to assure population health and organizational quality and success.
- Describe the basic concepts and principles that are the basis of epidemiological practice/analysis and their applications in health planning and in major functions of the health care leaders.
- Identify agencies, both governmental and voluntary, which serve as ready resources for disease prevention and control.
- Identify appropriate epidemiological data sources, quantitative techniques, and data interpretation for program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Identify the characteristics and objectives of disease investigation, surveillance, and screening process.
