CHE 5011D - Chemical Reaction Engineering


Application of chemical kinetics and material and energy balances to the design of chemical reaction systems.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to apply material and energy balances to the design of chemical reactors.
  • Students will be able to apply rate laws and knowledge of chemical reaction kinetics to the design of chemical reactors.
  • Students will be able to write elementary rate laws, describe chemical equilibrium as related to rate laws, and evaluate the effects of temperature on reaction rate constants and reaction rates.
  • Students will be able to identify factors such as volumetric flow rate, temperature, entering concentration of reactants, etc. that will influence chemical reactor design.
  • Students will be able to analyze experimental reaction kinetics data.
