CHE 5011D - Chemical Reaction Engineering Application of chemical kinetics and material and energy balances to the design of chemical reaction systems.
Requisites: Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 lecture, 2.0 recitation Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to apply material and energy balances to the design of chemical reactors.
- Students will be able to apply rate laws and knowledge of chemical reaction kinetics to the design of chemical reactors.
- Students will be able to write elementary rate laws, describe chemical equilibrium as related to rate laws, and evaluate the effects of temperature on reaction rate constants and reaction rates.
- Students will be able to identify factors such as volumetric flow rate, temperature, entering concentration of reactants, etc. that will influence chemical reactor design.
- Students will be able to analyze experimental reaction kinetics data.
