CE 8530 - Environmental Geotechnology II


Addresses the technical and practical engineering issues of containment of wastes and restoration of contaminated and/or disturbed portions of the geoenvironment.

Requisites: CE 6530

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to design active contaminant control/containment systems.
  • Students will be able to design passive contaminant control/containment systems.
  • Students will be introduced to both theoretical and practice sides of soil erosion (universal soil loss equation, other theories, modeling, control).
  • Students will learn advanced concepts related to SPT and CPT Techniques.
  • Students will learn more about geosynthetics (types, properties, application cases).
  • Students will review of fundamentals of environmental geotechnology.
