CE 7740 - Experimental Soil Mechanics Experimental studies of advanced aspects of soil property measurements to evaluate the engineering behavior of soil for applications to geotechnical analysis and design.
Requisites: CE 5720 Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 lecture, 2.0 laboratory Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to model soil behavior using computer.
- Students will be introduced to the art of centrifuge modeling.
- Students will understand consolidation theory and how to conduct laboratory experiments.
- Students will understand fate of contaminant theories and how to conduct laboratory experiments.
- Students will understand seepage flow theories and how to conduct laboratory experiments.
- Students will understand soil composition, structure, and index properties.
- Students will understand soil dynamics theories and how to conduct laboratory experiments.
- Students will understand soil shear strength theories and how to conduct laboratory experiments.
- Students will understand soil’s electrical properties and how to measure them.
