CE 5420 - Applied Hydraulics & Hydrology


Flow and pressure distribution in multi-loop networks, dynamics of flow in pumps and turbines, uniform and nonuniform flow in open channels, culvert hydraulics, hydrologic cycle, groundwater flow, surface flows, and water storage.

  • Students will be introduced to basics of hydrogeology.
  • Students will be introduced to the principles of open channel flow.
  • Students will learn about pumps, turbines, and pipe flow.

  • Students will learn about surface flows measurements and unit hydrograph.
  • Students will learn how to determine and forecase water demand for a community.
  • Students will understand elements of hydrologic cycle.
  • Students will understand how storage structures (dams, reservoirs) are designed.
