DANC 1250 - African Dance Technique I Introduction to traditional dances of Africa. Will focus on developing a balanced practical, and theoretical understanding of the dances and related traditional rhythms and songs. It will explore basic African dance movements coming from secular and social dances, focusing on their quality, timing and spatial organization. Over the course of 14 weeks the students will learn approximately 6 different dance types from 6 different ethnic groups. No prior African dance experience is necessary.
