Social Work

Program Overview: The full time MSW program is open to all eligible students (see below). Graduates of this program, which is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, are qualified to take the licensing examinations in all 50 states.

Admissions Policy: This graduate program requires an earned bachelor’s degree with a GPA of at least 3.0, coursework in at least three areas of the Social Sciences, with at least one Social Science course at the 300 or 400 level, a Social Science Quantitative Analysis course and a Human Biology course and have documented, supervised experience in the human services. In addition to 62 credits of coursework, the program requires 952 hours in unpaid internships.

Change Policy: Students may transfer up to 8 transfer credits in electives or core courses identical to those of our program. It is not possible to complete this program while enrolled in any other program in the university.

Transfer Policy: Students may transfer up to 8 transfer credits in electives or core courses identical to those of our program with a grade of B or better.

Opportunities: Upon graduation students qualify to take licensure examinations in all 50 states. MSWs are generally in high demand across the country, and graduates frequently compete successfully for jobs in the field. Many students may obtain educational loan reimbursements after graduation.


Social Work (Advanced Standing)

Program Overview: This program is limited by our accrediting body (see below). Qualified BSWs complete in three semesters with one 560 hour unpaid internship.

Admissions Policy: This program is limited to students who earned BSW degrees from CSWE-accredited programs within five years of application, with overall GPAs of at least 3.0, all requirements for the full time program and an excellent evaluation from their undergraduate field instructors.

Change Policy: Students cannot transfer into this program, nor is it possible to complete the program while enrolled in any other program on campus.

Transfer Policy: Students may only transfer in coursework if they took identical courses in another CSWE-accredited program.

Opportunities: Graduates are qualified to take the licensure exam in all 50 states. There are half a million more jobs than qualified MSWs to fill them; for this reason, most graduates will be eligible for loan reimbursement upon employment.
