Individual Interdisciplinary Program (Ph.D.)

Doctor of Philosophy

Admissions Policy: Prospective graduate students with demonstrated ability and intellectual maturity may apply for admission to the Individual Interdisciplinary Program (IIP) at either the masters or doctoral level. Applicants for a masters degree must have earned a bachelors degree from an accredited institution of higher education and achieved at least a 3.0 undergraduate Grade Point Average (GPA) or its equivalent. Applicants for a doctoral degree must have earned an advanced or professional degree from an accredited institution of higher education and achieved at least a 3.25 graduate GPA or its equivalent. Prospective students must provide transcripts of all previous academic work, at least three (3) letters of recommendation, a three to five page (3-5pp.) project proposal that includes tentative fields of study/areas of emphasis, prospective guidance committee members, and an explanation of why none of the related existing degrees meet the students educational and professional goals, and official test scores such as GRE, GMAT, or MAT. International students whose native language or academic language of instruction is not English must meet the university English language proficiency requirements as stated in the Graduate Catalog. The IIP requires that students, with the assistance of a guidance committee, develop a program of study that includes a minimum of two emphasis areas, each in a different department, school, or program. At least one of the departments, schools, or programs must offer a graduate degree at the degree level sought. In addition to specifying courses in two (or more) emphasis areas/disciplines, the program of study may include methods courses (e.g., Statistics) offered by programs, departments, or schools different from those specified as areas of emphasis, with the approval of the Guidance Committee

Change Policy: No selective or limited admission requirements.

Transfer Policy: No requirements beyond University admission requirements.
